James Weliky to be Panelist for MCLE’s The 60-Minute Lawyer Series, “Handling Layoffs – Understand Employers’ Obligations and Employees’ Rights in Layoffs”

MRW is happy to announce that James Weliky will be a panelist for MCLE’s live webcast on MCLE’s The 60-Minute Lawyer Series, “Handling Layoffs – Understand Employers’ Obligations and Employees Rights in Layoffs” on June 9, 2021. This live webcast will be an opportunity to meet and hear from current litigators who practice on both sides of these issues: those that represent employers and those that represent employees. This program provides invaluable insight into what many employees and their employers face as the unpleasant prospect of reductions-in-force looms large. The panel of experienced employment law practitioners will discuss employers’ obligations and employees’ rights in layoffs.  Learn the law regarding notice requirements, employee selection for layoff, separation agreements, waivers, unemployment benefits, and what benefits and compensation employees are, and are not, entitled to be paid when they separate from an employer. This is a valuable resource for both experienced and new practitioners, as this practice of law is constantly evolving. Insights from these panelists, who have experienced these issues first-hand, will help improve your ability to effectively advocate for your clients.
