The Fair Labor Standards Act and Massachusetts Wage and Hour Laws Protect Your Rights to Fair Compensation
Nearly eighty years ago, Congress passed the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to protect workers from being exploited by unscrupulous employers. The FLSA requires the payment of a minimum wage, and ensures that covered employees receive premium pay (overtime) for work in excess of forty hours per week.
Massachusetts has passed similar legislation. The office of the Massachusetts Attorney General has responsibility for enforcing the Massachusetts Payment of Wages Act.
If you have been subjected to unfair pay practices, such as failure to pay overtime or withholding of earned pay or commissions, we can help you. Your situation may involve violations of the FLSA and Massachusetts Wage Act as well as rights under an employment contract or under your employer’s policies.
