MHLAC – Employment Discrimination Claims for Clients with Mental Health Challenges: Reasonable Accommodations, Intersectionality, and Trial Skills

Our law firm supports the mission of the Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee: advancing the rights and opportunities of persons with psychiatric challenges through quality legal advocacy and education. On June 22nd, MRW partner Ellen Messing presented a panel at a MHLAC conference with Oyenike Balogun-Mwangi, Ph.D., and MHLAC attorney Chetan Tawari focused on representing clients who face multiple, or intersectional, forms of discrimination in the workplace.

People rarely fit neatly into demographic boxes and our attorneys understand that. We always tailor our representation to the client’s unique circumstances and personal identity. Discrimination is not always blatant and unconscious bias can subtly appear in the workplace, especially when employees combine legally protected characteristics like race and gender, or age and disability.

If you feel you have been disciplined of terminated unfairly, passed over for a position, or denied a promotion based on your actual or perceived:

  • gender
  • race
  • national identity
  • age
  • sexual orientation
  • disabilities
  • or a combination of the above,

please contact our office to schedule a consultation to see how we can help.
